The four basic weave shapes, (four equal sides, triangles, rectangles, trapeziums) have now been covered. This next chapter is short, and covers some basic weave structures.
Posting the chapters of The YarnShifting Manual will come to an end after four more postings. To follow on, I am expanding this Substack channel to include all sorts of creative projects I have made, and am involved in. Hence the pictures below the chapter download. A geodesic greenhouse; and the latest weaving project. Please feel free to ask questions.
CREATIVE PROJECTS -1
(i).LOCK-DOWN PROJECT (2020/1)
(an 8m diameter geodesic greenhouse)
(ii).BABY HAMMOCK (2025)
The main yarnshifted hammock, a 2x1 rectangle, almost finished. Note the weave is on the bias, one of the great advantages of yarnshifting.
The completed hammock with the yarnshifted rectangle, crocheted all around with hoops at each end to attached the ‘ropes’ leading to the carabinas, plus two tablet-woven straps (with simple plaited ends - normally I do Japanese kumihimo-braiding for the ends) for extra security to make sure the baby doesn’t fall out!
Close-up for detail showing the crocheted edging on the yarnshifted rectangle. Veronika my wife did that bit, and she sewed on the tablet-woven straps I made.
This baby hammock is going to baby Nora this afternoon. Lucky girl.
(Addendum six hours later - she liked it - well, at least her parents did)
The yarn shifting is way cool...
WOW!!! These are such beautiful heart felt creations Josh. The recipients including the plants are so lucky. What a gift and skill you have. That's just amazing. ❤️❤️❤️
